Eadweard Muybridge | British, 1830 - 1904

Muybridge made significant contributions to the study of human and animal locomotion, in which resulted a 11 volume book containing over 100,000 photographs, Animal Locomotion (1887). Through his efforts in motion study, Muybridge made the world aware of how certain actions appear when plotted frame by frame, especially a galloping horse. He also made an impact on the medium as a landscape photographer, whose views of Yosemite are among the finest.
