William Dassonville | American, 1879 - 1957

Among the noted California Pictorialists, William Dassonville was very active in the California Camera Club and a revered contributor to Camera Craft. His experiments with the platinotype-glycerin process produced soft tonal landscapes. Along with his concentration on the picture making process, Dassonville had an enthusiasm for the manufacturing of his own brand name photographic printing paper, "Dassonville Paper," its soft velvety surface was a favorite among Pictorialist photographers. His photographs have been included in many important collections and anthologies on pictorialism, and a monograph, William Dassonville: California Pictorialist.
