Abelardo Morell | Cuban, 1948 -

Abelardo Morell received a Bachelor of Art from Bowdoin College and a Mater of Fine Arts from Yale University School of Art. He is a professor emeritus at the Massachusetts College Art.

Morell’s photographs have been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions
at major museums in America and abroad and are in the permanent public collections of numerous institutions including: Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, National Gallery of Art, and the Center for Creative Photography.

Books by Abelardo Morell include: A Camera in a Room: Photographs by Abelardo Morell, Abelardo Morell and the Camera Eye, A Book of Books, Camera Obscura, and Abelardo Morell.

In addition to being widely exhibited, collected and published, Morell has been the recipient of numerous awards, including a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship and the International Center for Photography Infinity Award.

In 2013 the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago will exhibit Abelardo Morell: The Universe Next Door.
